Discover Hadong

In the misty valleys of Mount Jirisan, where legends echo through ancient temples and riverbanks, lies the birthplace of Korean tea, Hadong. According to historical records from the Samguk Sagi, tea seeds first took root in Korea in 828 AD, planted by royal command in the fertile slopes of Ssanggyesa Temple. This sacred ground, often called the cradle of Korean tea culture, has nurtured tea traditions for over 1,200 years. More than just a beverage, Hadong green tea is a living heritage. Its cultivation draws from Seon Buddhist practices, and its production still follows the ancient ‘deok-eum’ pan-firing method, passed down by generations of tea masters.
